 About Dr Sandy To

I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and I got my PhD in sociology from the University of Cambridge in the UK. I'm a marriage and family sociologist and partner choice expert who writes and speaks globally about women’s partner choices on TV, radio, podcasts, keynotes and seminars. My first book is China’s Leftover Women: Late Marriage among Professional Women and its Consequences.

My work has been featured widely in BBC, CNN, TIME, Financial Times, Telegraph, Daily Mail, Channel News Asia, South China Morning Post and Tatler etc.

I've taught for nine years in marriage and family studies, gender and sexuality studies, and public speaking at the University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Baptist University and Hong Kong Metropolitan University.

Besides a PhD in sociology, I also have a master's degree in English and Comparative Literature and I've written a novel about 4 different types of women navigating life and love based on the 4 types of women in my research.

I'm the host of Love & Life, Sorted Podcast, where I chat about love, family and everything in between. No BS, just trying to sort out life, one chat at a time.
